The NZUS Council is delighted to announce that New Zealand business journalist Madison Malone has been awarded the 2025 NZUS Council Media Fellowship.

As part of the Fellowship, Madison will travel across the United States in June 2025 to film and publish a new series of in-depth video episodes for her show Markets with Madison. Her reporting will focus on the people, companies, and policy developments that are shaping the bilateral relationship between the United States and New Zealand.

Council Chair Jonathan Mason commented:

“Madison is to be congratulated on becoming our 2025 Media Fellow. The calibre of applications for this year’s Fellowship was extremely high. Madison impressed us with her track record of business reporting and the wide following achieved by Markets with Madison. We look forward to her reporting on how New Zealand businesses are going in the US in these uncertain times.”

Madison’s trip will include interviews with Kiwi entrepreneurs and executives based in the US, providing real-world insights into what it takes to succeed in the American market.

“It’s a real privilege to share the stories of New Zealand companies taking on the world,” said Madison. “New Zealand and the US share core values of freedom, ambition and innovation, but our markets are also very different. My interviews will help uncover useful lessons — a kind of playbook — for other Kiwi businesses with global ambitions.”

Markets with Madison is one of New Zealand’s most-watched business shows, achieving 2.1 million video views in 2024. Madison was also named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 Media List the same year. Her reporting is known for its clarity, credibility, and reach across video, podcast and print formats.
